Curriculum Workshop
From CSWiki
The faculty in the Department of Computer Science are planning to hold a summer workshop on curricular issues on June 4-8, 2007. This is the entry page for access to material related to that workshop.
One of the starting points for our discussion is the 2004 Model Curriculum for a Liberal Arts Degree in Computer Science, drafted by the Liberal Arts Computer Science Consortium. One section of this Wiki compares the elements of this model curriculum with the syllabuses of our current courses.
Curriculum Workshop: Elements of the 2004 Model Curriculum
Some of our courses, however, include topics or activities that are not found anywhere in the Model Curriculum:
- Simulation and random-number generation
- Image manipulation
- Macros and metaprogramming
- Curriculum Workshop: Programming tools
- Curriculum Workshop: Low-level data representation
In CSC 151, we have various ideas about the role and timing of projects.
